Our Story

Welcome to Dos de Oros, Rey de Oros, and DDO Chicken Express, where authentic flavors meet a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. With multiple locations in Kansas City, including Dos de Oros, a full-service restaurant in South Kansas City, and Rey de Oros, a vibrant taqueria in Martin City, we are proud to bring a taste of Zacatecas and Guadalajara to our community while continuing to grow with new concepts like DDO Chicken Express.

Our story begins with owner Miguel Cervantes, whose passion for cooking was shaped by his parents, who ran restaurants, a bakery, and a grocery store in Mexico. Miguel’s love for fresh, high-quality ingredients and his hands-on experience inspired him to open Dos de Oros in 2005. Together with his wife, Maria Meraz, who manages the front of house with warmth and care, and his brother, Jose “Pepe” Cervantes, the head cook at Dos de Oros, Miguel has created a welcoming space where every guest feels like part of the family.

At our South Kansas City location, we offer an expansive menu filled with traditional Mexican favorites, fresh seafood dishes, and even burgers, catering to those seeking variety. Whether you are craving creamy guacamole or gooey cheese enchiladas, every dish is crafted with care and packed with flavor.

In Martin City, Rey de Oros, formerly Dos de Oros Taqueria, offers a fast casual dining experience featuring street-style tacos, flavorful burritos, and other Mexican staples in a relaxed setting. Since its renaming and relocation in 2024, Rey de Oros has continued to deliver the same quality and freshness our customers love, along with unique touches like our handmade ice cream.

As we continue to grow, we are excited to introduce DDO Chicken Express, our newest concept focused on bold, crispy fried and grilled chicken made fresh and served fast. This new addition reflects our commitment to expanding while staying true to the same values that started it all.

With Maria’s leadership in the dining room and Pepe’s expertise in the kitchen, we have cultivated a loyal following of customers who consider us their second home.
